“The essence of global health equity is the idea that something so precious as health might be viewed as a right.” — Paul Farmer

Welcome the Synapse, a global health newsletter written by a Global South writer. It is where I pen down my personal thoughts and commentaries on global health, healthcare and all things related.

I am Yoong Khean, trained as a medical doctor, somehow picked up an MBA along the way and am now a scientific officer and global health researcher based in Singapore.

I spend close to 10 years practising clinical medicine before I took a broader view of health and healthcare, dabbling in hospital management before finding my vocation in global health, working on global health policies and science communications.

the Synapse is free for all to read and will remain so, hopefully for a long time.

Thanks for dropping by! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
